Halloween Bats

Bats are mammals from the order Chiroptera whose forelimbs style webbed wings, making them the only real mammals naturally capable of correct and sustained flight.

By contrast, other mammals said to travel, such as flying squirrels, gliding possums, and colugos, can simply glide for short distances.

Bats don’t flap their entire forelimbs, because birds do, but instead flap his or her spread-out digits, which are extended and covered with a skinny membrane or patagium.
